Registry
Toolkit, like all such registry repair tools, will increase
your system's speed and eliminate errors in the Windows registry
through cleaning up corrupt and invalid files. It is a light and quick
application with few extra frills, yet it contains all the essential
extras that many computer users have come to expect out of their
registry cleaner.
Among the extra features contained in Registry
Toolkit are a Browser Helper Object Manager, a Startup List
Manager, an Uninstall Manager, and an Internet Explorer Backup/Restore
Manager. These are each listed under the Advanced Tools heading.
The Browser Helper Object tool can assist the user in identifying and
removing any BHOs that are not familiar which may be causing Internet
Explorer to crash. Browser Helper Objects are a DLL that allows
software developers to customize and control Internet Explorer. These
BHOs then have access to all the events and properties of a browsing
session. By limiting some of these BHOs from gaining access to your
system, the user is able to avoid possible incompatibility issues which
may corrupt important system functons, causing unstability in PC
operation.
The Startup Manager, of course, allows the user to control which
programs start up on each boot sequence. Cleaning up the startup list
will result in Windows starting up quicker and running smoother. By
limiting the programs that may unnecessarily install themselves in your
system's startup file, the user may reclaim more resources to allocate
to the software actually being used.
The Uninstall Manager allows the user to safely remove orphaned
uninstallers from the Add/Remove program file list, thus allowing the
PC to run smoother and quicker. Some applications, either intentionally
or by a programming error, will save items under a different Creator ID
than their own. These items will then remain on the computer, occupying
precious memory until fully removed. When using the Uninstall Manager
to remove these applications, they will be deleted completely from your
system.
In the event that Internet Explorer is the preferred browser of use,
the IE Backup tool will take a snapshot of all the IE settings and save
them for future use in case of a mishap. This allows the user to back
up URL histories, proxy settings, dialup accounts, security and privacy
settings, toolbars and more. Any customization done to IE can be backed
up using this tool so that they may be restored should a spyware or
other software make unauthorized changes to the Internet Explorer
browser.
As with other such registry repair tools, one of the main advantages to
a Registry
Toolkit purchase is that the buyer will have access to any
program updates which are released in the future. Also, users who
purchase licenses for more than one machine can do so at a discount,
saving $10 dollars per machine over the single license purchase. For
businesses considering purchasing this product, there is a nominally
priced Unlimited Computers license purchase for anything more than 3
computers, a twist that we have yet to see that other software
developers have added to their marketing campaigns.
Using the Registry
Toolkit program may take some people a little
getting used to. It doesn't have some of the program features that
we've all come to expect of a registry cleaner. For instance, you are
unable to view the specific items being targeted for fixing or
deletion. This can be a little annoying for those of us who like to
verify the items being targeted for repair. Also, the graphic user
interface is not as user friendly as it might be. In order to return to
a previous screenshot, you have to get used to using the "back" button
instead of being able to click on a button that will take you directly
to what you wish to view.
If you take the time to download Registry
Toolkit to test it out, do yourself a favor and spend some
time looking it over to familiarize yourself with how it works and
moves around in its graphical interface. This will save you from being
frustated by its GUI design. Perhaps this is something that the
software developer can work on in future versions.
While Registry
Toolkit may not pick up as many errors as other comparable
registy cleaners do, it does pick up the essential errors, which will
keep your system running smooth and fast. In all, this program, though
not very graphically user friendly, does a more than adequate job of
cleaning and repairing your Windows registry.
