RegClean Review
Review of RegClean
2008 Edition by – 2Squared Software
Rating:
3.6/5 stars Price: $19.95

RegClean
is a
registry repair utility developed by 2Squared Software, an industry
leader
in
developing useful Windows computer utility programs. In recent years,
this program normally sold for $29.95. But this year, faced with
stiffer competition, 2Squared is offering its 2008 Edition of this
program at a reduced price. It retains all the features of its past
versions, while suffering no lack in capability. In its present price
range, it competes very well with similar products with comparitive
features in value.
RegClean
does a
more than adequate job of finding and identifying problems in the
registry. What it doesn't do is tell the user the severity level of the
problems he is looking at as some of its rival programs do. This tool
is a bare bones, stripped down version of a registry repair cleaner
that is woefully lacking in the extra features that many other of its
competitors have. Yet, if it is a clean and simple registry repair that
you are concerned about, RegClean will more than do the trick.
Two features that are not lacking in RegClean
are a Program Startup Manager and a Back Up capability. The Program
Startup Manager will allow you to reduce the amount of programs
starting up at the system boot, which will allow you to optimize the
boot time for quicker startups. If by chance you ever accidentally
remove a critical item from the registry, the Back Up capability gives
you the ability to quickly restore your system to its previous status.
This feature is a must
have in all registry cleaners that you may consider for
purchase.
RegClean also features an automatic updating
capability for those who would prefer to let the program update itself
rather than to do this manually. Also, the user can choose to allow
RegClean to automatically remove the errors it finds or the user can do
this manually. Your registry will be compressed and defraged on each
scan.
With RegClean
all the basic functions for cleaning the Windows registry of invalid
entries and duplicate files are taken care of. If you need help in
determining what to do, there are online help files that are easily
accessed through the user interface. In fact, its graphic user
interface and search parameters are quite similar to those of ErrorSmart
and RegistrySweep,
two of the other registry programs on review here.
Overall, RegClean
is a useful registry repair tool that does the main job of repairing
the registry without all the additional bells and whistles that other
registry cleaners have. Perhaps this is why 2Squared Software is able
to offer it at competitive price level in comparison with some of its
more expensive rivals.
For those who wish to save their money, RegClean
will do the job it is asked to do, and it will do it very well indeed.
If you don't mind missing out on some of the capabilities that other
more expensive repair programs have, RegClean will fill the bill as a
reliable registry cleaner. If your machine is running slow, RegClean
should help get it back up to speed in no time flat.
